it was kind of a rainy day.  on and off rain. nothing compared to the seattle drips though.  WE went for our first little cruise around town today.  It was a bit nerve wracking at first, due to the nature of the bumpy roads and the crazy driving.

compared to berlin there are no bikes in prague.  we saw maybe ten other cyklisty the whole day.

I still cant really read the signs.  this one has something to do with a bike i think.

we rode over to holesovice, which is far over and down across the river.  there is a very large square and some long hangar like buildings that must have been something important in the past, kind of like a fairgrounds.  Something probably happened there.

all that we saw was endless kiosks and booths that sold all manners of plastic brass knuckles, knock off handbags, bart simpson t shirts, porn, pajamas hats, more bart simpson shirts, and a bottle of rooster.

the guy that sold us the rooster also made a mean vietnamese sandwich that was stuffed with gyro meat.  topped with some sweet chili sauce on a bed of cabbage slices.

at the end of the day, we rode over to some busy area and started getting cranky from not eating enough food, so we went to TESCO and wandered around looking, finally settling on a can of fish, mustard, bread, cheese, peppery sausage and a pear.  then we rode to one of the coolest places (we both agree) to have a picnic ever.  A little island that you can only get on from the middle of a bridge, that looks back over towards where we are staying.  there were ducks, pigeons, locals, and some teenage girls that we think were taking pictures for their facebook.

In Prague. The morning started off late. The last of the Jet-lag spindling off. Breakfast greeted us with a very milky latte beautifully displayed in a tall glass mug and a plate of crispy bread with garlic.

Crispy bread: Not to be confused with toast, is actually sliced bread (Rye maybe) that is deep fried  - I am guessing in lard - to a crisp.  Then rubbed with raw garlic. Lenka said it would be the flavor of the day.

Went for a little wonder with Jiri. So good to see him. We saw some wonderful buildings and had a nice lunch of catching up and laughs. I opted for the (obviously) healthy option of baked barley with mushrooms, garlic, marjoram  topped with a sliced pickle. Oh, and a small Budvar. The tasty ancestor of Budwieser.

Zak had onion soup, it was really good.

Jiri ran to the tram which he jumped on just before it left. We walked up to the flat and assembled the bikes.
Tomorrow we ride.

you drive for an hour, and then stop, and everyone gets out of the car, goes in to the shop and gets a sandwich and some coffee, sits around for a minute, and then gets back in the car and heads down the road.  Several times.  definitely the way to travel.

it takes three and one half hours to get from prague to berlin.

after we arrived back in prague, it happened that there was a concert in the park across the bridge from our place. tons of people, tons of beer, minor diridgible disaster and then a boat ride across the river to a larger, fancier boat with goulasz, jazz, dancing, more beer, and noone making fun of zaks sweet haircut.

fun fun fun.

this morning I will begin the re-assembly process of the bikes.

aprils turn next.

FREESTYLE

we have a good friend named JIRI.  He and Martin came to pick us up at the airport.

for dinner last night was goulash and pilsner.

driving around in an imported ford expidition belonging to some secret guy.  the keys come down on the floor of the elevator.

the road from prague to berlin wanders through rolypoly famry land and then up in to the mountains and then through dresden and then through a bunch of tunnels and down some really cramped and cobbled streets.

we blocked traffic and unloaded the clowns at the gallery.

we are here now  http://www.nadaism.de/

the show will be fun, and tomorrow eight of us will drive back down to prague for a party in the park.

another reason for me to not drive.

go as fast as you can, pass, and then get right back in front of the other guy and tap tap tap the brakes.

speed up and then exit to the mcdonalds for coffee.  this particular mcds had pictures of cycling greats all over the walls.

bikes in boxes.
catnip in tub.
socks on feet.
cash in pocket.

and we et all the bacon, so i guess it's time to leave.
